Kalokoni and Company is a Firm of Legal Practitioners which was established in August 2003, building its reputation over the years as a firm with strong expertise in employment/ labour related practice. The Firm has also diversified into the areas of International Energy Investment law, Mining, Petroleum, International Project Finance and Environmental Law relating to the Exploitation of Energy and Natural Resources. The firm offers comprehensive legal services in these specialized areas.
The Founder and Managing Partner of the firm is Mr. James Kalokoni, a graduate from the University of Zambia School of Law, and an Advocate of Superior Courts of Zambia. Mr. Kalokoni was admitted to practise Law in Zambia on 15th November 1996. He then joined and worked for an established and reputable law firm, Chilupe and Company, where he was an Advocate in charge of the Litigation Department. His line of work included among others, Corporate, Commercial, Banking and Employment Law practice.
In 1999 Mr. Kalokoni Joined Zambia’s Public Energy Company, Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation Limited now (ZESCO LIMITED) where he worked in the Company Secretary’s Office as Legal Officer, but was later appointed to serve as Legal Counsel on a World Bank Funded Project dubbed Power Rehabilitation Project (PRP) to provide legal advice to the project. Whilst on the project, Mr. Kalokoni went to Ghana Institute of Public Administration (GIMPA) where he was trained in Works Procurement Management in World Bank Funded Projects which proved instrumental in the execution of Power Projects and Procurements of work services.
Our Mr. Kalokoni holds a Master of Laws Degree in Energy Law and Policy with Distinction from the Centre for Energy Petroleum and Mineral law and Policy Dundee University of Scotland. The program comprised the Law relating to the Liberalisation of the Downstream Energy Industries and policy, Petroleum law and Policy, International project Finance, International and Comparative Mineral Law and Policy, Environmental law for Energy Industries, International Law of Natural Resources and Energy.
Mr. Kalokoni is also the former Chairperson of the Lands Tribunal, as well as the Workers Compensation Tribunal for the Republic of Zambia, Member of Zambia Institute of Arbitrators and the Industrial Law Society of UK.
Our Mr. Kalokoni also specializes in Employment Law and Practice and he holds an LLM Degree in Employment Law {LLM} from Demont Fort University, Leicester, UK.
